Classes 92 to 98
7th August 2006

Class 92s - good locos, but "freight only" so a shame that's it railtours only that they get to work. Top bash? 92030 from Crewe to Birmingham was a "claw back" that pleased me no end.
Class 97s - what can you say? All effectively "rare", so the top bash? All of them!
Class 98s - we are sticking to the VOR locos only here, the mainline registered Steamers can be found elsewhere. Top bash? 98008 rattling through the mountains at high speed was fairly impressive!

A planned tour with a pair in mid 2008 was postponed to April 2009, then the traction was changed to a 40 due to "operational problems" several weeks before it ran. And then, just before that tour took place, a 97/3 WAS given the go-ahead to work from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth on May 9th 2009. 97301 (37100) & 37676 are seen at Newtown with the "Cambrian Mountaineer".
